I read that Mack drafted Joe to play for his Athletics in Philly. I live about 40 mins from Philly but Shibe Park was way before my time:7 I am going to e-mail Bill Conlin, he's a well learned baseball writer for the Philadelphia Daily news. Maybe he can give me some info, I know that Joe didnt really care for the city being from the country, from what i have read. I also read that one day later in Mack's life, he remarked to a friend there goes Joe Jackson the best ball player of them all, and I could have had him. He said trading Joe was the single biggest mistake he ever made as the owner of the A's.
P.S.Im going to Fenway this weekend to see the Sox play them damn Yanks' BTW if Teddy Ballgame had been a Yankee he would have hit 700 homers!
